Mellissa May Taylor, known
in the Dance world as "Buffy," began dancing
at the age of seven. She
first studied at Marie Austin's School of Dance and
attended the South Shore Conservatory and the Dance
Conservatory of East Longmeadow.
Mellissa received her BA in Education from The Elms
College with a concentration in dance (jazz, tap, modern,
hip-hop, and ballet). She began choreographing in college
and started teaching immediately following graduation
at several studios, including Ballet Etc. where she
became Co-Director. There she formed the Performance
Companies and went on to direct the Dance Department
at Hill House Community Center of Beacon Hill.
Throughout her career she has performed nationally and
internationally with several dance companies. Currently,
Mellissa performs with the Reagle
Players Theater Co., is the
Assistant Director for MAVI Dance Co. She
was also a member of the
Rainbow Tribe Dance Company, Inc. of Boston for
ten years, and is proud to have served the role of Co-Artistic
Director. Although she is currently on hiatus, she continues
to enjoy contributing to the board of directors.
Mellissa teaches Jazz,
Street
Jazz, Modern,
Tap, Technique,
Performance
companies, Repertoire
classes, and is the founder and director of OTHILA Dance
Company.
